1) “iHeartRadio Music Awards,” 8-10 p.m., Fox. The networks like awards shows, which viewers tend to watch live. CBS has one Sunday (with country music) and Fox arrives today Performers include Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll (both will also perform Sunday), plus Justin Timberlake (shown here), Green Day and TLC, along with an award for Cher.
2) “American Idol,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. This expands to twice a week, with key moments coming. Tonight, the singers get their first turns with a full band; then the judges choose the top 24 –who will head to Hawaii for the next two episodes..
3) “The Voice,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. Ces, is is music overload – three shows sharing the same spot. Tonight, “Voice” – which is trimming back to one night a week – pauses for a “best-of” night, showing auditions and battle rounds.
4) “All American” season-opener, 8 p.m., CW. After surviving a cancellation siege by CW, “All American” leaps ahead in time, finding lives spinning. Layla opens her nightclub, with Patience set to perform for the first time since she was brutally stabbed. Spencer thrives on football and frets about love. It’s a mixed hour, but has some good moments, especially from Bre-Z, as Coop.
5) ALSO: In its final season, “Bob (Hearts) Abishola” (8:30 p.m., CBS) gets a double jolt – cutbacks at the hospital where Abishola works and an offer to buy Bob’s sock company. At 9, CW has an advance look at “Lovers and Liars”; it’s an “Fboy Island” variation, now with three guy trying to figure which of the 24 bikini beauties are in it for the money. The show goes to Thursdays, starting April 11.
