1) “Resident Alien,” 10 p.m., Syfy. This show is known for its sharp humor, as an outer-space alien tries to adjust to our world, inside the body of Harry, a small-town doctor. But it also has solid sci-fi adventure and human drama – which dominates this excellent hour. The subject is parenthood – D’arcy and her dad (shown here), Asta and her mom and daughter, even Harry and his shape-shifting offspring.
2) “Walker,” 8 and 9 p.m., CW. This managed to survive the mass cancellation of other CW dramas. It starts its fourth season next week, but first CW reruns the season-finale hours. There’s joy (a wedding for Capt. James, a budding romance for Cordell), despair (a serial-killer may be back) and surprise: Cordell learns the life plans of his son and his daughter – who then confronts an intruder.
3) “Nova,” 9 p.m., PBS. As science-fiction writers keep reminding us, there are good reasons to fear artificial intelligence. In this hour, Miles O’Brien views those, plus the good news. He’s seen the latter, with continued improvements to his prosthetic arm.
4) “The Conners” and “Not Dead Yet,” 8 and 8:30 p.m., ABC. Is it already Valentine’s Day again? Maybe not, but ABC reruns its Feb. 14 comedies, including two with Valentine themes: Becky is hesitant to introduce her quirky boyfriend (Sean Astin) to her daughter; then Nell may revive her dormant love life. At 9 “Abbott Elementatry” has reruns dealing with the drug policy and Barbara’s choir.
5) ALSO: Movies include “Wonka” (2023), a delightful musical, at 8 p.m. on HBO and “Raya and the Last Dragon” 2021 – with gorgeous animation and fun characters partly making up for a so-so plot – at 7:30 on Freeform. The latter leads into the return of “Grownish” at 10; it’s a bleak episode, with characters in post-breakup doldrums.
