1) “Password” season-opener, 10 p.m., NBC. Joe Manganiello (shown here) keeps showing up after “The Voice.” At 10 p.m. Mondays (after a two-hour “Voice”), he hosts “Deal or No Deal Island”; tonight (after a on-hour “Voice”), he battles Jimmy Fallon. Keke Palmer returns as host, after winning the primetime Emmy for best gameshow host.
2) “Night Court” and “Extended Family,” 8 and 8:30 p.m., NBC.Back in 1985-87, a semi-known actor named Brent Spiner did seven “Night Court” episodes as Bob Wheeler, a guy with the world’s worst luck. Spiner went on to “Star Trek” fame as Data; now, at 76, he’s back as Wheeler. That’s followed by a funny (albeit silly) “Extended Family,” with Jim claiming to be a yoga buff.
3) “The Cleaning Lady,” 8 p.m., Fox. Last week’s taut season-opener left Thony in crisis: Arnon is missing (Adan Canto, who played him, died at 42 of appendix cancer); Thony’s sister was deported and her son is being observed by protective services. Despite a few flaws – the usually bright Thony walks around in a blood-soaked shirt – this is a solid foll0w-up, propelling the drama.
4) “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” 9 p.m., Fox. Here’s a sometimes-overwrought attempt to keep us entertained. It has a guy hiding in plain sight, dressed as Ben Franklin and giving tours in Philadelphia. And it extends the cliché of a forensic scientist who has odd social skills. Credibility is strained, but it’s still an interesting hour, with solid work from its stars, Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez.
5) “Shogun,” FX. Last week brought a daring escape by Toranaga, who bribed the Black Ship to take him – and agreed to leave Blackthorne behind. But Blackthorne seized a smaller boat and caught up. Now he an Mariko have a new task – train Toranaga’s gun regiment in western techniques. Also, Yabushige confronts his past promises to Ishido.
