There seems to be a two-way street now, linking CBS and its corporate partner, Paramount+. Separate announcements said:
— A fresh spin-off of CBS’ “NCIS” is coming, bringing back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo (shown here) as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. But this one, confined to a 10-episode season, will be on Paramount+.
— “Tulsa King,” the Paramount+ series starring Sylvester Stallone, will rerun its first season this summer on CBS.
CBS has occasionally blended with the streamer. It aired the opening episodes of a few Paramount+ series; during the pandemic, it borrowed entire seasons that had already been streamed.
None of that made much of an impact, however, until this season. During the strikes, CBS had reruns of “Yellowstone”; the show had already run (often) viia cable and streaming, but it scored again.
Now the network borrows “Tulsa King,” which is from “Yellowstone” producer-writer Tyler Sheridan. Meanwhile, the new project brings back two fan favorites.
Weatherly was with “NCIS” for the first 13 seasons; de Pablo arrived in the third season and surprised fans by leaving at the start of the 11th.
Both actors made a few returns, however, adding to the story: Ziva was believed to be dead; Tony left the NCIS to focus on raising their daughter. Later, we saw her complete one last mission and head home.
Now viewers will see them together, for the first time in 10 years. The series (not yet with a title) has them on the run in Europe, after somebody attacks his security company.
Tony and Ziva are back; so is Stallone
