1) “Super Bowl Soulful Celebration,” 8 p.m., CBS. We’re in a stretch that soars with gospel music. On Friday, Erica Campbell co-hosted a PBS concert; now she links with her sister, in the gospel duo Mary Mary. There’s also a chorus of pro football players, plus R&B and pop (Earth, Wind & Fire, Robin Thicke) and Kirk Franklin (shown here), who will be featured in a PBS gospel documentary, Monday and Tuesday.
2) “Past Lives” (2023), 9 p.m., Showtime. Four weeks before the Academy Awards, we can catch up on the nominees. This one may be one of the most understated best-picture nominees in Oscar history. In real life, Celine Song moved to Canada at 12, became a playwright and theater director, and reflected on the guy she’d known in Korea. The quiet result is nominated for best picture and script.
3) More Oscar films. Many of the other best-picture nominees are nearby. Right now, you can find “Barbie” on Max, “Maestro” on Netflix, “The Holdovers” on Peacock and “Killers of the Flower Moon” on Apple TV+; next Friday, Peacock adds the powerful “Oppenheimer.” And Turner Classic Movies has a past-Oscar emphasis all month led today by “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952) at 2 p.m.
4) More movies. Disney films fill out much of the night. There’s the adventure of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (2021) at 5 p.m. on FX and lots of animation, including two gems – “Wall-E” (2008) at 5:10 p.m. on Freeform and “Frozen” (2013), at 8 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
5) “Saturday Night Live,” 1129 p.m., NBC. After a busy stretch, the show now has two weeks of reruns. It will be back to new episodes Feb. 24, with Shane Gillis as host and 21 Savage as music guest.
