1) “Genius: MLK/X” openers (shown here), 9 and 10:15 p.m., National Geographic Channel. These two men had little in common … yet everything in common. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up in clergy comfort, had his own church at 25 and mastered non-violent protest. Malcolm X grew up roughly, went to prison, ignited rage. Yet they helped reach the same goals; this eight-parter tells the story well.
2) “Genius” and “Soul of a Nation,” 9 and 10:15 p.m., ABC. The opening episode is on both ABC and National Geographic. (Both are owned by Disney; so is Disney+, which starts streaming the show on Friday.) After that first hour, however, ABC detours. Its “Soul of a Nation” profiles the two men who each spent two decades in prison, wrongly convicted of killing Malcolm X.
3) “Farmer Wants a Wife” season-opener, 9 p.m., Fox. These four guys differ in location (Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Colorado) and more. One is new to farming; another has worked hard at it since he was 12 and his dad died. One is 23; another is 42, divorced, with a daughter, 12. Tonight, each meets eight women and takes five back home.
4) “Kings Fron Queens,” Peacock. A decade into existence, rap was ready to go higher in the mainstream … and Joseph Simmons was the guy to do it. His brother Russell had the Def Jam label; his friends, Darryl McDaniels and Jason Mizell, linked for a trio that several times reached the top-10 on the pop chars. This documentary traces 40 years.
5) MORE: Two weeks before starting its final season, “Young Sheldon” (8 p.m., CBS) reruns a key episode in its best story – the Georgie/Mandy relationship. It starts when she invites him to a spa weekend. Also at 8, Fox has its second “Next Level Chef” hour. The first trimmed the field of internet chefs; this does the same for home chefs.
