Best-bets for Dec. 20: two winners and a young hero

1) “Survivor” finale, 8-11 p.m., CBS. This started with three lawyers (some of them keeping that a secret) and 15 others, including a nurse, a bartender and a truck driver. And now? All the lawyers are still there – Julie Alley, 49, and Katarah Topps, 35 (they’re shown here, center and right, in a glimpse from last week) plus Jake O’Kane, 26. But 13 of the others are gone, leaving only Austin Li Coon, a grad student, and Dee Valladares, an entrepreneur, both 26. Tonight, we’ll have a winner and a 10 p.m. after-show. Read more…

2) “The Masked Singer,” 8-10 p.m., Fox.. At about the same time that “Survivor” names its 45th champion, “Masked Singer” will have its 10th. The ringers were dumped early and now the professional musicians are being ousted. It was Keyshia Cole and John Oates last week, Sebastian Bach and Ginuwine a week earlier. Now four remain, masked as Cow, Donut, Gazelle and Sea Queen.

3) “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” opener, Disney+. The two “Percy Jackson” movies drew mixed reactions, but this time Rick Riordan (who wrote the books) is involved. The show has bigger special effects and younger stars. Walker Scobell, only 13 during the filming, is terrific as Percy, a lonely kid suddenly transported to a world of gods and monsters. Tonight’s two episodes offer big action, quiet drama and characters worth caring about.

4) Country Christmas. Two reruns overlap – NBC’s “Christmas at the Opry,” from 9-11 p.m., and AMC’s “CMA Country Christmas” at 10. That’s in a sea of holiday reruns. At 8 p.m.,, NBC has Barry Manilow, CW has “Christmas Around the USA” and PBS’ “Nature” visits Lapland for “Santa’s Wild Home.” ABC has cartoons (“Olaf’s Frozen Christmas,” “Mickey Saves Chrstmas”), followed at 9 by last month’s look back at “Light Fight” winners.

5) Christmas classics. Some of the broadcast networks’ annual classics show up tonight on cable. “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946), which will be back on NBC on Christmas Eve, is at 5 and 8 p.m. on E. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman,” CBS perennials, are at 8:15 and 9:20 on Freeform, followed by “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” at 9:55.
