1) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. After starting the season with high-profile hosts (Pete Davidson and Bad Bunny), “SNL” goes the opposite way. Nate Bargatze (shown here), 44, is a good-natured comedian once described in an Atlantic article as “the nicest man in stand-up.” He hosts, with the Foo Fighters as music guests. The season’s first “SNL” was so-so (despite Davidson), but the second had sharp sketches, three of them mainly in Spanish.
2) World Series, 8:03 p.m., Fox, with preview at 7. It’s the second game of the best-of-seven series, with Arizona at Texas. It’s also the time when the games collide with a full college-football slate. Sunday is a travel day; the Series will avoid competition with most pro games, but then collide with Monday-night football.
3) College football, 7:30 p.m. ET. NBC has third-ranked Ohio State at Wisconsin; ABC counters with Colorado – now with a 4-3 record, after a spectacular start for the father-son duo of Deion and Shedeur Sanders – facing UCLA (No. 23). Three cable channels – ESPN, CBS Sports, Fox Sports1 – have games at 7 annd 10:30. Strong match-ups are at 3:30, with Oregon (18) at Utah (13) on Fox and Duke (20) at Louisville (18) on ESPN.
4) “NCIS: Hawaii,” 8 p.m., CBS. When a Navy captain and his wife are killed, it seems to echo a previous case. A former NCIS team member is brought back, to see if there might be a copycat killer.
5) Christmas movies, 8 p.m. For the seventh time, Paul Greene stars in a movie with “Christmas” in the title; this time, he also sings an original song. That’s in “Bringing Home Christmas,” on Great American Family,” in a story about a World War II uniform with love letters in the pocket. Jill Wagner also stars – her ninth film with a “Christmas” in the title. Hallmark counters with Jessy Schram and Chandler Massey in “Mystic Christmas.”
