“SNL” has planned to close its 48th season with three straight new episodes: Davidson (a former cast regular) would host May 6, followed by two HBO stars – Kieran Culkin on May 13 and Jennifer Coolidge on May 20.
Then came the writers’ strike and all three episodes were dumped. Now the strike has ended (pending results of the membership vote, which ends Oct. 9); writers are back to work.
Most late-night shows returned to live episodes Oct. 2. The exceptions were Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” (scheduled for Oct. 16) and “SNL.”
The Screen Actors Guild remains on strike, but “SNL” actors are covered by a separate contract. All are expected back, plus newcomer Chloe Troast.
