CBS sets dates for makeshift fall line-up

CBS viewers now have some certainty about the upcoming season.
Yes, it will be a makeshift line-up, cobbled together because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes. But now, at least, there are definite dates for the shows.
The season will start Sept. 2 for college football (shown here) … and Sept. 14 for reality-show Thursdays … and Sept. 17 for Sundays anchored by “Yellowstone” reruns … and Sept. 27 for more, starting with the supersized “Survivor” and “Amazing Race.”

Yes, it will be a makeshift line-up, cobbled together because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes. But now, at least, there are definite dates for the shows.
The season will start Sept. 2 for college football (shown here) … and Sept. 14 for reality-show Thursdays … and Sept. 17 for Sundays anchored by “Yellowstone” reruns … and Sept. 27 for more, starting with the supersized “Survivor” and “Amazing Race.”
Even if the strikes do get settled, scripted shows won’t be ready for their usual fall starts. In its patched-up line-up, CBS has:
— New game shows, each at 9 p.m.: Josh Duhamel’s “Buddy Games” starts on Thursday, Sept. 14 and Jaime Camil’s “Loteria Loca” on Monday, Oct. 2. “Raid the Cage” arrives on Friday, Oct. 13.
— Returning reality: This season’s “Survivor” and “Amazing Race” are expanding to 90 minutes; they’ll fill Wednesdays, starting Sept. 27. Also, there will be a few primetime edtions of daytime shows, each at 8 p.m. It will be “The Price is Right” on two Mondays, Oct. 2 and 9, and Friday, Oct. 13. Then “Let’s Make a Deal” is Friday, Nov. 3.
— Summer reality holdovers. Four shows started late, letting them sprawl into the fall. Most will end in September, but “Big Brother” can run into November. It will be 8 p.m. Wednesdays (moving to Tuesdays when “Survivor” and “Amazing Race” start), 8 p.m. Thursdays and various times Sundays.
— More non-fiction: “48 Hours” and “60 Minutes” start their seasons Sept. 16-17. The former is 9-11 p.m. on Saturdays, often stepping aside for college football; the latter is 7:30 p.m. on some Sundays (including the opener), 7 p.m. on others. Also, “FBI True,” originally on Paramount+, is 9 p.m. Tuesdays, starting Oct. 3.
— College football. Primetime games (7:30 p.m. ET) start with Texas Tech and Wyoming on Sept. 2 and UCLA (shown here) San Diego State on Sept. 9. It will be Iowa-Penn State on Sept. 23 and switch conferences to the SEC on Nov. 4; a week later is the National Women’s Soccer League championship
— “Yellowstone”: A ratings hit on the Paramount Network, this will rerun from the beginning on CBS Sundays. The two-hour opener is 8:30 Sept. 17; other Sundays will have two one-hour episodes, usually at 8,
— More rerun transplants: “SEAL Team,” which moved from CBS to Paramount+, will be back on its original network at 10 p.m. Thursdays, starting Nov. 16. That same night, CBS will start running two episodes from the original, British version of “Ghosts.”
— And CBS reruns. , A few of the scripted shows will still be around via reruns. “NCIS” will be 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16; 8-11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25; then 10 p.m. Mondays. “FBI” is 10 p.m. Tuesdays, starting Oct. 3. “Blue Bloods,” tapping 13 seasons, will be 10 pm. Fridays, starting Sept. 29. “Young Sheldon” and “Ghosts” will be 9 and 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, starting Nov. 2, then return to 8 and 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. “Fire Country” will be 8 and 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29; “Bob (Hearts) Abishola” is about 10:30 p.m. ET (after soccer) on Nov. 11.
