1) “The Lazarus Project” debut, 9 p.m., TNT, rerunning at 10:04. George has a loving girlfriend, a strong business idea, a bright future. Then …well, we won’t spoil it, except to say this is a clever fantasy concept; it works very well in the opener, but does lose oomph after the basics are explained. It’s a British co-production, with Papa Essiedu (shown here) – who received an Emmy nomination as the best friend in “I May Destroy You” – leading a talented cast.
2) “The Idol” debut, 9 p.m., HBO. Last week’s series-finale of HBO’s “Succession” and season-finale of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” left a big hole in TV’s best night. HBO helps fill it with this story of a pop star, coming back after a nervous breakdown. Lily-Rose Depp, 24, who stars, is the daughter of Johnny Depp and French actress-singer Vanessa Paradis. She’s been nominated three times as France’s most-promising actress, an award her mother won.
3) “Uncoupled,” 9 and 9:30 p.m., Showtime. Here’s a rarity: A show canceled by Netflix after just one season resurfaced elsewhere less than a year after its debut. Neil Patrick Harris plays a thriving Manhattan real-estate guy whose 17-year romance ends suddenly. Now he’s back in a gay dating scene he doesn’t recognize. This is co-created by Darren Starr, who has ranged from “Beverly Hills 90210” to “Sex and the City” and “Emily in Paris.
4) “HouseBroken,” 9 and 9:30 p.m., Fox. And here’s another sort of rarity – new, scripted episodes in the summertime, on a broadcast network. It’s a witty show, with Lisa Kudrow voicing Honey, a bright and caring housecat. In the first episode, she loses the baby possums she was supposed to watch; in the second, a frisky new playmate confounds her relationship with Chief.
5) ALSO: ABC has the second game of pro basketball’s best-of-seven finals; the Denver Nuggets host the Miami Heat at 8 p.m. ET., with pre-game at 7:30. CBS has both “60 Minutes” at 7 p.m. and “60 Minutes Presents” – rerunning stories, with follow-ups – at 8; “NCIS: Los Angeles” reruns follow at 9 and 10. And NBC reruns “American Ninja Warrior” and “America’s Got Talent,” at 7 and 9.
