1) “The Voice” opener, 8-10 p.m., NBC. Two new coaches – Niall Horan (shown here) and Chance the Rapper – arrive, facing the show’s big winners: In 22 editions, Blake Shelton has had nine champions and 14 runners-up, sometimes simultaneously; in eight tries, Kelly Clarkson (back from a one-edition break) has had four champs and a runner-up. Reba McEntire will be the mentor for all four teams.
2) “History of the World, Part II” opener, Hulu. Four decades ago, Mel Brooks’ film offered a big, broad style that was savored by comics in newer generations. Now many of them – Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz – have an eight-episode sequel that airs (two per night) through Thursday, with Brooks, 96, narrating. Sketches range from Rasputin to Jesus, from cavemen to Kama Sutra. Some people will be offended; many will consider this hilarious.
3) “9-1-1,” 8 p.m., Fox. For the first time this season, both shows are in the line-up. “9-1-1: Lone Star” remains on Tuesdays; “9-1-1” returns from a three-month break, nudging “Fantasy Island” to 9. Tonight, lightning ripples across Los Angeles and a first-responder’s life is in danger.
4) “Fantasy Island,” 9 p.m., Fox. After some so-so episodes, the show bounces back with a fairly good one. Arriving are Shay (Marie Osmond), a country superstar facing writer’s block, and Beau (Tyler Perez), her overworked assistant. Meanwhile, Elena has been in a funk, ever since she broke up with Javier so he can spend time with the adult daughter that he’s just met.
5) Mysteries, www.acorn.tv. It’s time to probe murders in quaint corners of Europe. “Madame Blanc” concludes its six-episode season, with two episodes: In a French village, an Englishwoman probes the murders of a rock musician and a perfume expert. And “Holding” has all four episodes available: In a tiny town in Ireland, a police sergeant has nnver had a serious case. Now human remains have beenn unearthed; dark secrets will be revealed.
