1) Football. It’s conference-championship day, peaking at 4 p.m. ET on CBS, with top-ranked Georgia (shown here) and 5th-ranked Louisiana State. At 8 p.m., it’s Michigan (No. 3) and Purdue on Fox; and Clemson (No. 8) and North Carolina (No. 17) on ABC. That’s in an ABC tripleheader, with Texas Christian (No. 4) and Kansas State (No. 12) at noon, then Tulane (No. 19) and Central Florida (No. 22) at 4. There’s more at noon and 3:30 on ESPN and 4 on Fox.
2) “Robbie the Reindeer,” 8 p.m., CBS. Richard Curtis writes drolly brilliant movies (“Love Actually,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral”) and TV shows (“Blackadder,” “Mr. Bean”). But he also co-created the Comic Relief charity and has co-written clever things for its specials. That includes this 1999 animated delight and its sequel. The American versions (re-dubbed with Ben Stiller, Britney Spears, etc.) were set for last week, then moved to here, at 8 and 8:30.
3) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. Keke Palmer was a TV star at 10, a movie star at 12 and had her own Disney series at 15. At 29, she has a hit movie (“Nope”) and her first turn hosting “SNL” Sza is the music guest.
4) “A New Orleans Noel,” 8-10 p.m., Lifetime. Yes, this has likable stars (Keshia Knight Pulliam, her husband Brad James and Patti LaBelle) and a lovable city. Its story, however, is flat and predictable. “Santa Bootcamp,” which follows at 10, does offer some fun. Other new Christmas films are on Great American Family (“Candy Cane Lane” is fairly pleasant, if you excuse the absurd whodunit), UpTV and the Hallmark channels.
5) More movies: It’s a strong night for films made for theaters. That includes Christmas ones – “Elf,” 7 and 9 p.m., AMC; “A Christmas Story,” 7 and 9 p.m., TBS; the 2008 “Grinch,” 7:15 p.m., Freeform (which follows with “Rudolph” and “Frosty,” at 9:15 and 10:20) – and others. There’s “Beverly Hills Cop” at 6:45 p.m. on CMT; “Gone Girl” at 8 p.m. on HBO; and the original “Star Wars” trilogy, at 5:10, 7:55 and 10:42 p.m. on TNT.
