Like many of us, NBC is eager for the endless winter to conclude.
For summer, it has a safe collection of reality shows. That includes two returning ones (“America’s Got Talent” and “American Ninja Warrior”), one new one (“Dancing With Myself”) that has people trying to match the moves of Shakira (shown here) and others … and one that’s returning to the network after a decade elsewhere, “Who Do You Think You Are?”
The schedule:
–May 31: “America’s Got Talent,” the annual summertime ratings leader, is back in its Tuesday spot, from 8-10 p.m. Its live shows will begin Aug. 9.
— May 31: “Dancing With Myself” takes the 10 p.m. slot. Based on the pandemic surge of at-home dancing, via TikTok and beyond, it has regular folks trying to match dances demonstrated by Shakira, Nick Jonas, Liza Koshy and Camille Kostek.
— June 6: “American Ninja Warrior,” another leader in summer ratings, takes over Mondays.
— July 10: A Sunday slot goes to the return of “Who Do You Think You Are?”
The show has followed celebrities – including Lisa Kudrow, one of its producers – as they trace their roots. It spent three seasons on NBC (2010-12) and seven on TLC., then disappeared.
Now it’s back for 13 episodes, including ones with Billy Porter, Allison Janney, Nick Offerman, Bradley Whitford and two Zacharys – Quinto and Levi.
