The world of Grant Imahara – filled with robots and imagination – will be featured in the next two days.
Imahara (shown here) – a “MythBusters” regular for a decade – died Monday of a brain aneurism at 49. There are marathons this morning (Friday, July 17) on Discovery and Saturday afternoon on Science.
After getting an electrical engineering degree from the University of Southern California, Imahara worked for George Lucas’ technical-effect companies, including renovating R2-D2 for the “Star Wars” prequels. He was also a champion at robot battles (eventually becoming a “BattleBots” judge and even occasionally appeared as an actor.
Mostly, however, he was known for helping build elaborate devices for “MythBusters” and for “White Rabbit Project,” it’s later variation on Netflix. The two-day tribute is:
