If this is a time of underemployment, no one has told John Legend.
He’s about to have a special – this one on Father’s Day. It’s approximately his one-zillionth appearance since the COVID shutdown began.
Legend (shown here being fatherly) has sung in at-home music specials on ABC and CBS. He’s done two specials – one music, the other celebrating graduations – that were shared by all the big networks. He’s done a COVID special on BET and a “Red Nose Day” fundraiser on NBC, plus social-distancing moments with James Corden, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, Desus & Mero and “Hollywood Game Night.”
And now, to fill any empty time, “John Legend and Family: A Bigger Love Father’s Day” is 8 p.m. June 21 on ABC. Legend will do songs from his “Bigger Love” album (which comes out June 19) and have comedy moments, including a “Fatherly Feud” game.
The hour will include his wife Chrissy Teigen and their two kids, plus Stevie Wonder, Anthony Anderson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Common, Jim Gaffigan, Ne-Yo and others, including, from the sports worlds, Shaquille O’Neal, Scottie Pippin, Andy Roddick, Tony Gozalez and Deion Sanders.
