For the cable news people, coronavirus specials have become the new normal.
CNN keeps having a “Coronavirus: Facts and Fears” town halls, with Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta – two terrific fact guys – in charge. Now it has variations with Alicia Keys and (really) Big Bird.
Fox News has also jumped in. Here are the latest examples; for each, the times are three hours earlier PT:
– Today (Thursday, April 23), 8 p.m, CNN.: Alicia Keys will join Cooper and Gupta for the debut of the visual version of her song “Good Job.” Keys co-wrote the song last year, as a tribute to her mother and others; now it’s been repurposed as a tribute to essential workers. The single will be released today, with the visual version tonight.
– Saturday (April 25), 9-10:30 a.m., CNN: “The ABC’s of COVID-19” will link Erica Hill and Gupta (who seems to be working approximately 27 hours a day) with such “Sesame Street” stars as Big Bird, Elmo, Rosita, Grover and Abby Cadabby. It’s aimed at parents and kids.
– Sunday (April 26), 10 p.m., Fox News Channel andFox Business Network. Here’s another round of “America Together.” Pete Hegseth hosts and other FNC people are presenters, offerig examples of people showing faith an perseverance during the crisis.
