1) Disney movies, TBS and Freeform. On a slow night for other shows, Disney films come to the rescue. The one TBS film — the gorgeous “Beauty and the Beast” (2017) at 6 p.m. – isn’t a cartoon, but Freeform counters with an animation spree. It has “Finding Nemo” (2003) at 2:10 p.m., “Ratatouille” (2007) a 4:40 and then two gems — “Moana” (2016, shown here) at 7:20 and “The Lion King” (1994) ar 9:50.
2) “Press Your Luck” and “Card Sharks,” 9 and 10 p.m., ABC. Even in the summertime, networks change their schedules skittishly. After setting two drama reruns for tonight, ABC made a late decision to substitute these game shows. They rerun episodes from June 12 and 19 respectively.
3) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. It really is possible to have the show without an action-movie star as host. After three straight weeks of them – Paull Rudd, Don Cheadle and Jason Momoa – we now get Awkwafina. She grew up (as Nora Lum) in Queens and became a rapper and actress, scoring with “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Ocean’s 8.” Travis Scott is the music guest.
4) Cable movies. OK, our calendar must be wrong. There are Christmas movies at 8 p.m. on Hallmark and at 7 and 9 p.m. on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Also, Bravo tentatively has “Boo! A Madea Halloween” at 8:30. Add “Ghostbusters” (2016 ), from 5-8 p.m. on FX, and our head starts to explode.
5) And more movies. At 8 p.m., Turner Classic Movies has “Gandhi” (1982), the Oscar-winner about a man who resisted imperialism and transformed the world. At the same time, NBC has “Furious 7” (2015), about guys who drive really fast. Hey, it’s your choice.
