We can quit worrying now: Shannen Doherty has been added to Fox’s summer series, “BH90210.”
That’s the show that has the original “Beverly Hills, 90210” cast getting together, to plan a reboot. It’s scripted, with the actors playing exaggerated versions of themselves … something these producers (Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini) did quite well with Tori Spelling’s “So NoTORIous.”
They created this one with Spelling and Jennie Garth, who are in the cast, along with Jason Priestley, Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris and Doherty. Luke Perry – a regular on “Riverdale” until his death last month at 52 – wasn’t expected to be on the show. The original cast is show here with Doherty front-and-center, as usual.
In its announcement, Fox said Doherty:
— Starred in the original versions of “90210” and “Charmed.” It did not mention that she reportedly fought with the other actors on both shows, left “90210” after four seasons and was fired from “Charmed” after three.
— “Most recently was seen reprising one of her most famous film roles” in the “Heathers” TV series. Actually, she was seen by very few people. Savaged by critics before her character arrived, the show was pulled from the Paramount Network line-up, then later slipped in for a quick burn-off over five days.
— “Will executive produce” the series. Well … everyone will. The show lists 10 executive prodcucers, including all six stars.
