It’s been a tough year for Fox. Some pretty good new shows (“Cool Kids,” “Proven Innocent”) drew little attention; a very good old show (“Empire”) got stuck in off-screen controversy.
So the network will settle for small successes. Both its Monday shows — “The Resident” and “9-1-1” — have been renewed for next season.
“Resident” has just finished its long story — a crooked medical-device company — and on Monday (April 1) has a blizzard. There have been a lot of them lately.
And “9-1-1”? By the standards of producer Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “Feud,” “American Horror Story”) it’s so-so. By the standards of most TV, it’s OK. On Monday, everyone is searching for Maddie, who was kidnapped by her ex.
